A fantastic interview with one of my heroes of the film industry. I particularly love what he says lamenting the loss of craftsmanship, and his love of miniatures (and practical effects in general), whilst also respecting the contribution of the digital domain. The Lord of the Rings films remain a textbook example of the practical and the digital combined beautifully, with digital used sparingly but brilliantly, when physical options wouldn't be as good. I wish that were more the case with other films that use the digital in a more lazy, slapdash fashion.
