A fantastic piece with some deep insight into this curious cultural zeitgeist, in which such polar opposite films have become intertwined. I'm fascinated by it, and I actually expect both films will deliver exactly in the way they need to. I'm just glad neither is a sequel or superhero film. I also think your point about the dark humour inherent in this is spot-on. :)
