A few points:
1) Like any sensible, sane, rational human being with a creative soul, I agree with you. The implications of AI are horrifying. I am, and always have been, a full-blown Butlerian Jihadist, and cannot understand why people are so foolish as to ignore the warnings of science fiction. "Thou shalt not create a machine in the likeness of a human mind."
2) The implications for me as a film reviewer, and primarily as a novelist, aren't yet clear. These are my primary means of creative expression. However, it horrifies me that AI could write a "Dillonesque" novel, and try to pass it off as genuine. For that reason alone, I'm for pulling the damn plug on AI, permanently. The nuclear option. History proves mankind cannot be trusted with this technology, no matter what the tech-mad, didn't-stop-to-think-if-you-should scientific contingent claim. I'm going the full Luddite on this one.
Obviously, I'm also against it for all the reasons you write about here too, ie destroying livelihoods and lives.
