A very good article. I am also weary of the ubiquity of grey-wash, and long for a return of the opulent, Jack Cardiff style eye-popping colours of old (The Red Shoes - indeed much of Powell/Pressburger - is a fine case in point). As for Wright, I agree. He is a fine visual stylist, making great use of light and colour in his films.
