A well-written interesting piece, but I absolutely don't do "pantsing". I am an unrepentant control freak plotter and proud of it. Typically I start with an ending and only proceed if it blows me away. Then I work backwards, with character profiles, research, plot outlines, chapter outlines, etc. Only then do I write the story. Obviously each to their own, of course. If "pantsing" works for others then great. :)
