A well-written piece making a good case.

The Robert Wise original is an all-time-favourite of mine. I saw it in beautiful 70mm on a rerelease when I was a student. Emotionally, it hit me for six, whereas Spielberg's version did not have quite the same effect. That said this new one is still very well directed and put together technically, and I certainly don't think it's a bad film at all. Here are my thoughts in detail, if you're interested. :)
