A well written selection.

My selection won't be out until probably the 31st or thereabouts, as there are still films to be released here in the UK in 2023. I want a chance to assess the likes of Godzilla Minus One (out this weekend), Maestro (I'm seeing it on Friday), The Boy and the Heron (released on Boxing Day), and Ferrari (released on Boxing Day), before I make a final list. I'll also see Aquaman 2 with an open mind when it comes out, but I seriously doubt it will be in contention.

Meanwhile, some thoughts on a few of your choices:

May December is a fine piece of work that might show up in my list. Past Lives I found myself admiring rather than loving, so it probably won't appear, but obviously a film review is not a blood oath, and subsequent viewings may change my mind. Asteroid City I found insufferable (Wes Anderson has well and truly disappeared up his own backside), and Killers of the Flower Moon is a masterpiece. :)
