Agreed. I like Shakespeare in Love, but both those films are far better.

…I think about some of the movies that it was up against and shake my head to see how it was prized. Either of the WW2 films nominated, Saving Private Ryan or The Thin Red Line, would’ve made better choices (then again, there’s always something to be said for audacious oscar wins too).

Agreed. I like Shakespeare in Love, but both those films are far better. I'd have given Best Picture to The Truman Show that year. :)
