Agreed. Nic Roeg was one of my favourite directors - not just for Don't Look Now and Walkabout, both of which I adore, but also for this. Shame they fudged the ending. They should have stuck to what was in Roald Dahl's novel (my favourite Roald Dahl novel, incidentally). But otherwise, The Witches is first-rate. :)
