Agreed. Someone recently called my mystery thriller novel Death Nest "Dillonesque", which I took as a huge compliment. I can also understand where they are coming from as it has a lot of my familiar mainstays - major central mystery, unreliable traumatic childhood memories, dark humour, coming-of-age romance, labyrinths, cults, hints of the supernatural, a major final twist, etc.
