Agreed. The book is better.

…e end. As a side note, if the northeast of England is really like this, how does anyone live there? It’s not as good as Susan Hill’s 1983 novel of the same name (which you should definitely read this month), but her masterpiece set a very high bar.

Agreed. The book is better. Also Daniel Radcliffe is ridiculously miscast. But the film overall is so atmospheric that it makes up for this.
