The one saving grace of this film is Christopher Reeve. Time and time again, Reeve has proved to be perfect as Clark Kent. His humility, compassion, and love for the goodness in people has always been the thing keeping this character relevant and beloved for decades after his final performance in these films. And while I clowned on the simplicity of his speeches, they are the actual best scenes in the movie, being as Superman as you can get. The intent towards pushing love over nuclear war was there, it was just executed really poorly.
