All good challenges. Question: Do you consider it a cheat if someone reads the abridged version of Moby Dick (ie the more plot driven version without the insane amount of extra information on the minutiae of whaling)? I've only ever read the long version, but my inner editor always wants to trim those bits. At the same time, my inner literary student rages at the idea of dismissing these asides, as there are some great bits of immersive information, wit, and other ponderings in there too that provide fascinating context. I’m a bit torn, to be honest. Thoughts?
