Also, whilst I accept everyone has personal preferences, supernatural horror is about many inexpressible fears and ideas, in metaphorical terms. Vampires are often about fears around sexuality, for instance. Ghost stories are often about injustice (and really go all the way back to Cain and Abel in the Bible, when Abel's blood "cries out from the ground" for justice). Zombie films are often satirical (for example, Night of the Living Dead is about civil rights, and is filled with irony in that respect, Dawn of the Dead is about rampant consumerism, etc, etc).
