In my student years, I visited Disneyland Paris in 1994 (in February, so out of season) and it was pleasingly deserted. It wasn't like what you describe here, particularly. Just a day out at a fun theme park.

What you talk about here sounds a lot more sinister. Almost like The Truman Show. I did visit Orlando once (for work) and I must say I didn't much care for the place. It was flat, ridiculously humid, and I wasn't really in any frame of mind to visit theme parks.
