An excellent article on an endlessly fascinating and thought provoking work.

I certainly agree that Kubrick's deliberate omission of Burgess's finale is a very important choice. He cleverly backs the viewer into a corner, forcing a confrontation of ugly realities. Also, he was unnervingly prophetic of a deeply misogynistic future (given the prevalence of violent internet pornography and so on).
