An interesting article raising some interesting concerns.

Firstly, I think May December is a fine film, well-acted and directed, with interesting and non-judgmental observations to make about (ironically) the sometimes parastitic, hypocritical nature of celebrity. More of my thoughts on the film can be found here:

Secondly, regardless of the various inspirations for the film (not just the case you cite), I don't believe films shouldn't be made just because one person objects or is potentially offended if their life provides potential inspiration (it is important to remember the film is fiction). That way, we wouldn't have Citizen Kane. I understand why they might not want to see it, but then they don't have to see it.

If it was my life? I'd probably watch out of morbid curiosity, and honestly, I'd just want the film to be well made, because I care about the art of cinema to a ridiculous degree. But then again, not everyone is me, and responses to such an incident would vary based on personality, temperament, and so forth.
