Anakin being immaculately conceived was always a ridiculous idea, to my mind. And as for people getting offended, that's absurd considering Anakin goes on to become Vader. If anything, Christians should find the idea of an immaculately conceived villain offensive (though obviously they shouldn't either, because as you rightly point out, this is fantasy, not religious dogma). :)
