Another excellent article, thank you Paul. It is a joy reading your commentary on these momentous events, in stark contrast to the absolutely hideous, ill-informed nonsense I keep seeing about the Queen on Medium, ranging from accusing her of ordering massacres in Nigeria to blaming her for events as far back as Queen Elizabeth I (no, really). The level of ignorance about what a constitutional monarch does in Britain staggers me, especially when one sees (as is presently being broadcast live on the BBC) the deeply moving procession of people paying tribute to the Queen lying-in-state (with a queue of people currently four miles long). She touched so many lives, and has such an extraordinary legacy that it fills me with rage reading such ignorant drivel. So thank you for being the perfect antidote to this.
