Another excellent poem, about a subject close to my heart. I am very much with Tolkien on the trees thing. I consider the deforestation of Britain something of a national tragedy (although steps are being taken to fix it).

I remember one particular conker tree I used to climb a lot as a child. It was amazing, and I was so upset when it got cut down (it was on communal land in our village, then someone bought the land and cut it down).
