As a child? Wow. I can imagine. I first saw it when I was 16 and my immediate response was to go and see it again just to make sure I hadn't imagined how disturbing it was. (Here in the UK it was banned on video for decades, so got regularly rereleased in cinemas instead. Even though it's out on DVD and Blu-Ray now it still gets released every other year or so. Something of a UK tradition now, I think.)
