As a child, I memorised the names of every Star Wars figure and therefore knew every alien that wandered onto the screen in the original trilogy. I probably couldn't tell my Snaggletooth from my Ree Yees these days, but as an adult, I'm more amused at The Day the Earth Stood Still jokes in some of the names ("Klaatu", "Barada" and "Nikto"). (Yes, I know most of those are from Return of the Jedi, but Jabba's palace is very much in the spirit of the Cantina sequence, as you point out). :)
