As far as Star Trek is concerned, we seem broadly in agreement, and I think you're right about The Undiscovered Country being a great encapsulation of all that is Star Trek from a philosophical perspective. But I still prefer Wrath of Khan. :)

Re: Star Wars sequels - I actually thought The Last Jedi was brilliant, and the only truly essential Star Wars film since the original trilogy. The Force Awakens was fun, and obviously gets a lot of good will from me as it leads into The Last Jedi, but The Rise of Skywalker was a mess.
