As someone who grew up in a cult, I'm never, ever going to agree with you on this. I am living proof that children are seriously damaged by such things (although my usefully traumatic experiences have informed some of my fiction, which has been cathartic).

I remain genuinely sorry for children brought up amid the Jehovah's Witnesses (as well as cults or any other form of oppressively legalistic and controlling religion, including fundamentalist evangelical Christianity).
