Asimov's laws are routinely ignored in imagined futures (and I suspect they would be in reality, alas). Alien: Covenant was a mess. I honestly thought Life was a better Alien film released that year. As Alien rip-offs go, it wasn't bad.
I'm not a fan of any Alien films post Aliens, to be honest. There just didn't need to be any more, and Prometheus was a crushing experience (for all the reasons I discuss in the article I linked to in this piece).
I think The Duellists is strong, and A Good Year is better than many give it credit for. :)
