At which point, you point out that Star Wars isn't a vision of the future. It's a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. And it's a fairy tale/fantasy that happens to be set in space, rather than science fiction.
Besides, a much more realistic and believable vision of Star Trek's idea of the future is found in the BBC's Blake's 7 series, where the Federation are basically the bad guys who go around oppressing native aliens and strip mining their planets.
That's shut them up. ;)
