Bad reviews are inevitable for any serious writer. A thick skin is a necessity. I'm not saying they don't hurt at times, but one has to grin and bear it, and find ways to see them in their proper perspective. I am often amused by them, especially when they are absurd (criticising a horror story for being too scary or disturbing is like criticising a comedy for being too funny).

This article is a brilliant encouragement in that respect, since the great writers listed here have are remembered and revered. The critics? Not so much.
