Best Director for The Martian? Hmmm.... I'm trying to remember what else was out that year. Off the top of my head, I'd have given Best Picture to Inside Out, and possibly Best Director to George Miller (for Mad Max: Fury Road). Neither won of course, but I seldom agree with Academy Award winners. I certainly didn't think Spotlight deserved Best Picture, but Inarritu's direction on The Revenant was good.
