Bits of it are brilliant, but it does go on a bit, and after the chariot race takes forever to get out of that dreary leper colony and for Jesus to show up. My favourite sword and sandals film is Spartacus and I've a huge soft spot for the massively underrated The Fall of the Roman Empire. ("If you listen carefully, you can hear the gods laughing.")
