Bull Durham is my favourite from that list.

Speaking of football, when I lived in the northeast of England for a while, I witnessed the tribal rivalry between Sunderland and Newcastle fans. It was fascinating, from an anthropological perspective, to see the visceral, borderline suicidal despair when one team or the other lost. The history of the feud between those cities dates back centuries (to the time of the Jacobite Rebellion circa 1745, I believe, hence the term "Geordies" as the people from Newcastle supported King George).
