Call me a boring old traditionalist, but I really think one ought to rewatch a film when one is writing a film retrospective.

The Aviator is a fine piece of work. I think Cate Blanchett really nailed Hepburn, and DiCaprio is superb. I also liked the way the film uses two tone technicolour to start with, then uses different colour film stocks as the years advance and colour film technology progresses.
