Christopher Nolan pretty much had autonomy on the Batman films. I think it is disengenuous at best to compare him to the Marvel situation. And Scorsese liked The Dark Knight, for instance, so it's important to realise Scorsese isn't anti-superhero films, per se.

I will concede that the "not cinema" expression is wrong, simply because, as I've said before, in point of fact they are works made to be shown in cinemas. :)
