Completely agreed. These live action, because-we-can Disney remakes of their classic animated features have no artistic justification whatsoever, and are a waste of celluloid.

On the other hand, Guillermo Del Toro's stop motion Pinocchio was a genuinely inspired and personal take on the source material. That is how you approach a remake if you're interested in art rather than box office.
