Deadpan humour is something that often causes confusion when I engage with some of my American friends and colleagues (though not all, I hasten to add).

I suppose Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger have a few good one-liners in the likes of Die Hard, The Terminator, etc. But both are substantially different to Bond. For one thing, in The Terminator, Arnie is literally a robot, so it doesn’t really count.
