In this second edition of my new series Dillon Detours highlighting excellent writing on Medium, I’m focusing on cinema. I know a lot of you enjoy my film reviews and articles, so I thought it only fair to point you in the direction of some of the excellent movie writers I’ve come across on this platform. I’ve chosen to focus on those who make film writing their primary “niche” (if you’ll forgive my use of an obscenity, and with apologies to Eric Pierce for his omission, as I plan on writing a more pop culture-themed selection in a future edition of Dillon Detours). These ten are erudite, knowledgeable cineastes cut from the same cloth as yours truly.

I don’t always agree with the perspectives of those writers listed here, suffice it to say, I respect their ability to craft well-structured, cohesive arguments without degenerating into the whiny polemics so prevalent among the ill-informed professionally offended on this platform who deign to comment on film from that perspective. Such viewpoints do not interest me, but the opinions of this lot certainly do, even when I have a different perspective.
