Medium wheat separated from chaff.
It’s that time of the month again, where I put on my hard hat, gather my pick axe, and enter the mine of Medium to tunnel for gems. The resultant haul is a rather longer list this month. However, criteria for the Dillon Empire seal of approval remains stupidly strict, so if you are on this list, you are permitted a modicum of insufferable smugness.
As mentioned in previous Dillon Picks, these articles are not necessarily from the calendar month, as I reserve the right to discover neglected masterpieces from the archives. Also, I make no apology for featuring some of the same authors who appeared in the last couple of Dillon Picks. The fault is entirely theirs for the excellent quality of their writing. That said, I hope this list features some names that are new to you.
I should once again reiterate that these are creative writing pieces, not a collection of interminable “content” bragging about how they made six figures on Medium this month, or the like. The articles below are gripping, funny, frightening, shocking, informative, transformative, and in some cases deeply moving. Enough of this blithering preamble. Time for the main event.
