Welcome once again to Dillon Recommends, in which I shine the spotlight on individual writers on Medium whose work I greatly enjoy. This month, I turn my attention to Eric Pierce, Star Wars obsessive, steampunk author, pop culture guru, and founder of the fabulous Fanfare publication. You won’t find a better place on Medium for all your pop culture needs, and the site has a broad remit covering film, television, gaming, books, and so forth.

I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, so to speak (if you’ll forgive my reference to a certain 1981 Human League smash hit single), when Eric headhunted me for Fanfare. Since then, I’ve become a huge admirer of his writing and enthusiasm for other great writing. For example, he recently compiled this downright essential piece, curating some splendid articles on Medium. I strongly recommend bookmarking it and disappearing down that rabbit hole.

However, that one doesn’t count as an official selection for Eric, since it focuses on the work of others. Here are six pieces that are all him, showcasing his considerable talents. I often refer to Eric as being the more benevolent side of the unholy trinity that is him, Sir Paul Combs
