Dillon Recommends: Paul Combs
Books, History, Rants, Saints, Springsteen, and more.
As some of you will no doubt be aware, I’ve decided to discontinue Dillon Picks, my monthly selection of favourite stories from other writers on Medium. However, I aim to promote excellent writing on this platform in a couple of other ways. This is the first of these; a regular column highlighting a particular author whose work is consistently outstanding.
The criteria for inclusion are exceptionally strict. To appear in Dillon Recommends, it isn’t enough to write a one-off article that catches the eye of the Dillon Empire. A high standard of excellence must be maintained. I should add that inclusion once doesn’t mean you won’t be highlighted again, with different stories or subjects. Indeed, in the case of the first writer to receive the Dillon Recommends treatment, I am certain he will be featured again. I present to you, the excellent Sir Paul Combs (previously knighted by the Dillon Empire, in Dillon Picks).
Sir Paul may be familiar to many of you, but if he isn’t, I recommend a deep dive into his extensive back catalogue. From his About page:
“My ultimate goal is to make books and reading as popular in Texas as high school football… it may take a while.”
