Er... Because it's a damn good thriller, brilliantly acted and directed, with a gripping screenplay? It's a bit of a blunt instrument, I'll grant you, but Prisoners is a hugely effective, absorbing piece of work.

Each to their own, obviously. My wife loved that one. :)
