Excellent review. I'm not sure the ending bothered me the same way, but I take your point. The Brutalist is a fine piece of work but I don't think it's as good as Oppenheimer either (let alone the films the clearly inform it - Citizen Kane, Giant, The Godfather, The Godfather Part II, Once Upon a Time in America, and There Will Be Blood).
