Excellent story.

Slightly different story from me. You are probably aware I have a Christian faith, so that informs this story: After moving into the house prior to our current house, I forgot to do what I normally do whenever moving into a new home, which is to pray in every room and expel anything I sense is spiritually trespassing. In short, I draw up spiritual boundaries around my home.

A few nights after moving in, at about 1am, I heard shrieks from my then two-year-old son's bedroom. You should know my son was an excellent sleeper as a baby/toddler, only waking up when ill, and certainly not plagued by nightmares as far as we could tell. So hearing him so obviously terrified was immensely alarming.

I rushed to his bedroom. As I crossed the threshold in the doorway, the temperature plummeted as though I were entering a meat locker (this was during an exceptionally hot summer, in 2006). I could see my breath. All the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. In fact, what happened to me read like a checklist of horror cliches.

Amid my son's screams, I could sense something incredibly malevolent in that room. I reacted instinctively, from the perspective of my faith, and addressed the invisible entity: "In the name of Jesus Christ, I command you to leave this house."

Immediately, the horrible presence departed. In a matter of about two or three seconds, the temperature returned to normal. My son stopped screaming and simply went back to sleep. I have no idea what it was, and to be honest, I don't really care. But the very next day, I did what I had neglected to do after moving in, and prayed in every room of that house. We had no more trouble after that.
