Fair enough. My primary concern is great cinema first and foremost, and everything else is secondary, so that's why we have rather different perspectives on this. Personally, I couldn't give an airborne fornication whether it's all male, all female, or whatever, as long as it's a good film (though obviously, that's not to say gender disparity shouldn't be critiqued). :)

One final point: If you do decide to brave The Descent (it's a terrific horror film), I beg you to track down the UK cut of the film, as the US cut has been censored so it ends five minutes earlier to soften the impact. Whoever made that horrible decision to patronise US audiences will one day have to answer to God, but in the meantime, I do all I can to spread word of this blasphemy to my American brethren, and point them in the direction of the UK cut instead.
