Fellow Generation X here, and I don't agree with what you say about out of hours compromise. If you are paid to work a set amount of hours at a particular time, working outside of that is slavery, pure and simple. On the other hand, if an employer wants different time zones covered, either pay the overtime, or else put people on shifts so the timezones can be properly covered.

I refuse to use the word "team" anymore (unless I'm talking about a sports team) as it has been so abused in corporate circles to imply repsonsibility beyond what you are paid to do, ie "You're letting the team down", etc, etc. This is nonsense. It is entirely possibly to build camaraderie, friendship, and all the other things you mention without inflicting a cultish atmosphere of no-I-in-team corporate platitude bollocks.
