Fiennes should definitely have won, and Neeson would have been a far more deserving winner than Tom Hanks that year (much as I love Hanks). But I'd have given Best Actor that year to Anthony Hopkins for The Remains of the Day. In fairness, that was a particularly strong year at the Oscars.
