Films haven't been cut on television in the UK since the late 1990s, but this archaic practice still continues in the US, as I understand it. Oh well... The DVD should be uncut (I own a copy). :)

As for Dahl being unhappy with the film, well, there are a few departures from the novel, but for the most part, I think they are good ones (the fizzy lifting drinks incident is good, as Charlie is too good to be true otherwise, but that bit isn't in the book).
