Firstly, allow me to congratulate you on a first-rate piece of condescension (for comedy value, I get it - my admiration is sincere). Secondly, I daresay Google results contain local variants, but it may interest you to know that your definition of TDS didn't appear on the first page of results here in the UK. I daresay I could have dug deeper and discovered more if I didn't have better things to do with my life than peer into the depths of Google to score internet snark points, so your criticism of my slapdash research is valid. Nonetheless, when I saw the acronym relating to tenancy, I was amused enough to offer a smart-arse response. I hope that explains this recent chain of events. If you wish, I could enclose diagrams to make it clearer.
To address some of the TDS definition points in a (mostly) serious manner:
It is somewhat myopic to assume US presidential policy will not affect people beyond the US, especially when it comes to an absurd proposition like annexing Greenland. As Paul points out in this article, as NATO members, the UK would be obliged to defend Greenland. And since the US is also a NATO member, it would have in effect attacked itself. This would effectively invalidate the NATO agreement and decades of post World War II western stability. So yes, I'd say in such a scenario, we'd be personally affected.
Where I do have some sympathy is the divisive rhetoric used by both sides in the US culture wars. The same militancy drives both ideologies, and the degeneration into name-calling and worse is (from my admittedly limited perspective in the UK) deeply foolish. But I'll say this for the Democrats: At least they upheld the election result and didn't attempt an insurrection, fuelled by the dangerous urgings of a leader that resulted in lives lost.
Whatever one's position on the abortion issue (I'm actually more conservative in that respect that you might expect), there can be no doubt that women in certain states have had what were previously legal rights taken from them. That is fact. Therefore, it isn't outside the realms of reasonable fear for other potentially vulnerable groups to fear they might also be targeted in some way. I sincerely hope that proves not to be the case, but before I'd have said the overturning of abortion rights for US women at the federal level was never going to happen, and it did.
Finally, to provide a little personal history, my own loathing of Trump originates from before he was a presidential candidate. In fact, if you watch the (excellent) documentary You've Been Trumped, you'll see how Trump, with all his money and legal bullies, plus the greedy aid of the Scottish Nationalist Party, attempted to bully several ordinary people off their land in Aberdeenshire in order to build a golf course, creating environmental damage and much discord and upset in the process. Local residents who didn't wish to sell were faced with hideous bullying tactics, from having mounds of earth piled in front of their houses, to petty boundary disputes that he knew perfectly well these residents would not have the means to fight in a protracted legal battle. (By the way, the Scottish Nationalist Party, the local police, and everyone else locally involved in this state of affairs are nothing less than a disgrace. Indeed the documentary demonstrates how the main UK government in London would never have countenanced such outright corruption, though thanks to the devolved Scottish Parliament, the SNP were able to inflict this outrage on ordinary Aberdeenshire citizens.)
What happened in Aberdeenshire is typical behaviour from Trump, and that's why I said what I said about toddler tantrums and how he behaves when he doesn't get his way (by the way, I don't think he's stupid - I think he's extremely clever, especially the way he plays to the gallery and panders to people's prejudices). What's happening with Greenland is the same thing, but on a much bigger scale, with him first offering to buy, and now suggesting he'll use economic pressure. Nothing less than despicable, in my not remotely humble opinion. I loathe bullies with a passion, but bullying on this scale is extremely dangerous for world stability. In fact, if he's serious about annexing Greenland, then he's little better than Putin at this point.
Finally, on a lighter note, I'll thank you not to refer to me as "bruv". But you may, if you must, use the earlier UK colloquialisms you deployed ("matey", "old chum", and whatnot). :)
