Firstly, I've just picked up a copy of your novel. Why? Because I'm a control freak plotter, and I know what you are writing in this article is spot-on. With the process you describe properly undertaken, I am assured of a well thought-through narrative, and I look forward to reading it.

I have never been able to understand the pantser mentality. I go all hot and cold just thinking about it. For me, I have to have the ending first before I even consider writing a novel. And that ending must be brilliant. It must blow me away. Only then, do I work backwards from that point, working on character profiles, chapter outlines, research, and so forth. With that process properly undertaken, writing the novel itself is a joy, and flies by. Speaking of which, I really must get back to outlining my next gothic mystery.

Thank you again for the article. :)
