Firstly, much as I adored The Remains of the Day (both the novel and the film are equally brilliant), I couldn't really get into Never Let Me Go. I read the book first, you'll be pleased to know, but my big issue with it is these kinds of dystopian tales aren't really satisfying when people passively accept their fate. There needs to be some kind of act of rebellion, akin to 1984, The Handmaid's Tale, etc. It may be plausible or even realistic, but it simply isn't satisfying to my mind. That said, it was brilliantly written, per Ishiguro's usual standard.

The film was unmemorable, I agree. But I don't subscribe to the notion that novels are always superior to their cinematic adaptations. Here are my thoughts on that subject in detail, with a few examples, if you're interested. :)
