For all its flaws, I enjoyed Superman II a lot more than you did (and for me there are childhood nostalgia elements). At least it has a sense of danger, unlike Superman III (the only valuable bit of that film is when Superman turns evil).

I do think I could recut Superman II into a much better piece of work, taking the best bits of both the Donner and Lester cut. Forgive me if I already sent you this link (I'm not sure).
