Generally speaking it does, but our household is a weird anomaly in this respect: You'll often find me listening to modern pop compilations featuring, say, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, and so forth in one room, whilst my children listen to Bowie, Queen, Guns n Roses, or Michael Jackson in another. My children are convinced there is nothing of value in modern pop music, and that it "all sounds the same". Their pop knowledge mostly comes from discovering the classics on You Tube, though I have introduced them to some of my favourite bands as well.

I do see their point to a degree, but I still think there is good stuff around today. My favourite musical eras are the 1980s and 1990s, and for a while I thought it was just because of nostalgia, but my children are more insistent than I ever was that the 70s, 80s, and 90s simply had better music.
